What, where and when?

Road Safety Week, the worldwide movement to raise awareness for safer roads, is happening the week of 17-23 May 2021!

Have you made your plans to be part of the international movement to prevent road deaths and injury and make our streets and communities safer? Not sure where to start? There are lots of ideas at the Australian and New Zealand sites dedicated to Road Safety Week.

This year, while both countries are running Road Safety Week to coincide with the UN Global Road Safety Week and their theme of speed, there are a few differences.

In New Zealand the focus is on Streets for Life - how appropriate speeds help everyone get around in safe and sustainable ways, from 30km/h limits in town and city centres, to safe speeds for rural roads.

Australia’s National Road Safety Week has drivers taking the ‘Pledge to drive so others survive’ - available on the website. There are also daily themes, starting a day earlier on Sunday May 16 – a Remembrance Day for those lost on the roads and highways - through to the 23rd,which spotlights #gethomesafe for your loved ones.

Happier workers, safer drivers.

Road Safety Week is a great way to embed road and driver safety into your organisation’s culture. If you currently train with Fleetcoach you already know how a positive safety culture makes for happier workers and safer drivers! Our higher-level skills and self-awareness coaching is a proven way to strengthen your safer driving culture.

If you’re on either of our Safety or Wellbeing plans then you’ll have the Speed course available, ask your drivers to complete the course and then get them talking –at toolbox meetings, around the water cooler, at the management meetings, anywhere your drivers gather. And if you don’t have the course, contact us to upgrade your plan.

Talk about it!

Road safety week is also a great time to do - or redo - our Distraction and Inattention, Rules and Values courses. Make Road Safety Week your week, what you do is your choice, just be sure to spread the word – and share your stories with us on LinkedIn and Facebook or drop us a line.
