We get asked lots of great questions, and every once in a while we gather up all the answers so you can read them in one place. You can find the first, second and third instalments of this series on our blog as well.

Do you have anything in your programme about eco-driving?

We sure do. Safe driving is all about looking ahead, being aware of upcoming hazards, and responding to them without needing to take drastic action. This means that if you’re driving safely, you won't ever be braking or accelerating sharply or suddenly, so you’ll be driving much more smoothly. This is the very basis of saving petrol and driving more economically.

What’s the Risk Assessment all about?

Our unique Risk Assessment is all about figuring out where you’re at, how well you can judge your own driving skill, and using some high-level assessment to check on what your attitude says about how you’ll fare behind the wheel. It’s a great way to get a snapshot of what you need to improve, or, for managers to see where their riskiest drivers are. The report you'll get is easy to interpret - and it could save a life.

When is training ‘done’? What’s this about a refresher?

At Fleetcoach, we firmly and wholeheartedly believe in training. Training is what will help you be a better and safer driver, better at assessing your own skill level, and knowing what to do if a hairy situation does present itself. So there is no such thing as too much training! We are aware of realistic time constraints though, so we’ve built a full programme that will provide you all the training you need, and a full curriculum to teach it to you in a way that builds on what you’ve already learnt as you go. After a year, Fleetcoach drivers will see a ‘Refresher Course’ available to them. This is especially designed training, to brush up on the skills you’ve learnt, keep them fresh in your mind, and make sure your always road-ready.

Are video simulations as good as in-car training?

We get asked this one a lot! The research has shown that practicing higher-level driving skills like visual search and hazard perception using realistic video simulations has a real effect on the way we drive on the road in real life. And it means we can be put in all kinds of risk situations, without actual risk – because it’s all from the safety of your computer! Here’s some more information.
