What's even more distracting than a cellphone?

We know distractions while we're driving are pretty bad, and that cellphones are a major culprit. But this article reckons there's something much worse.

The new smartwatches (which do pretty much everything a phone can, but are strapped to your wrist) seem to delay reaction times even more than hand held cellphones. In fact, recent research showed that users took 26% longer to react to an emergency when using a smartwatch, than a phone.

One option is to have a 'driver mode' so that the watch is temporarily disabled, said Paul Singh, CEO of Smart Witness, and the matching legislation to enforce it.

What do you think of this new technology? Is it important to consider all the possible safety implications before releasing something like this to market?
